House Commerce Committee News
The House Commerce Committee, of which Rep. Brian Ellis is the Chairman, held a public hearing about Senate Bill 234, which would establish the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program on April 18. PACE is a financing mechanism that enables low-cost, long-term funding for energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation upgrades to commercial or industrial properties. Testifiers from the bill sponsors, Sen. Guy Reschenthaler and Sen. John Blake, as well as Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance, National Electric Contractors Association, Ygrene Energy Fund, Pennsylvania Utility Law Project, Pennsylvania Bankers Association, Greenworks Lending, Chester County Economic Development Council and Blue Green Alliance were all present at today's hearing. Currently, 33 states plus the District of Columbia authorize PACE financing for clean energy and energy efficiency projects. The hearing took place at Harrisburg University.

Members of the House Commerce Committee toured MacuLogix, located in Middletown in late 2017. It gave members of the committee a chance to hear the compelling story about cutting-edge technology to detect age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). AMD is the leading cause of preventable blindness in adults, which occurs when a small central portion of the retina deterioriates.
